Warmest Greetings of ALOHA!

Aloha ‘oe
(may you be loved, greeted)

Hilo Yoga is the culmination of 40 years of living on

the Big Island of Hawaii,
actively and purposefully experiencing the best it has to offer,
decades of successful event planning,
and 25 years of practicing and teaching yoga.

Namaste'
(I salute the Light of life in you)

At Hilo Yoga, I offer alignment-based asana, heart-centered meditation and practical philosophy to help individuals achieve wholeness, healing and the fulfillment of life's purpose.

I have studied extensively with Purna Yoga™ founders, Aadil Palkhivala and Savitri for nearly 25 years. I have been teaching for nearly as long because I began teaching almost immediately to replace an instructor that moved. A few years later, I opened Hilo’s first yoga studio, Hilo Yoga. I graduated from the 2,000 hour College of Purna Yoga Teacher Training program in 2006. I have hundreds of hours of additional training in therapeutics and other specific yoga topics. My training far exceeds other instructors in Hawaii- by comparison most RYT’s (registered yoga teachers) have the minimum of 200 hours of teacher training. I am familiar with and have personally experienced the Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga.

We are meant to be joyous. Practicing Hilo Yoga is my life’s style, a style of living that has given me the tools to discover more joy in my daily life. In my teaching, I joyously share what I have learned from other teachers as well as what I have discovered from my personal growth experiences in my own practice.

I take the privilege of teaching seriously, answering my calling to share what I have been blessed with over the past 20+ years. No two classes are ever alike, and each one is themed with a specific topic. I believe the depth of yoga is limitless and the creativity of its interpretation cannot be formalized.

I have priorities in my teaching... the safety of my students and helping them to heal and grow on all levels- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I do not practice while I am teaching- my role is to guide my students ensuring their safety and enhancing the practice with specific instruction geared to the class as a whole as well as individualized attention based on a student's needs. And my classes are FUN- students are encouraged to find that in their practice and in life.
